Use this guide to ensure that you have a foundational financial understanding of what to expect before, during and after renting. The best way to confirm that you are ready to make your move is a proactive planning approach. Before looking into the desired neighbourhood or location for your new home, you must unpack your financial status to make sure you are prepared. Look into your expenses, savings and debts: Getting a good grasp on these numbers allows you to know the exact amount you can allot towards rent. Start a search in your price range: Once you know your price range, you can look into rental units that have the amenities you need to sustain your lifestyle. Make sure that your proximity to school, work or transportation is not excessive, so you do not have to spend extra funds on buying a car or gas. Budgeting Budgeting for renting looks a little different then the basic budget we are used to seeing. It involves getting a full-view of your entire financial picture. It's your responsibility to find a subletter and to do your due diligence to make sure that it will be a positive subletter and not one that will make your life harder. Interview your subletter and ask questions to make sure you feel comfortable giving them your space, knowing that you will be responsible for rent payment and damages. This initiative, known as “Hefty Hearty Haul ,” helps divert items from landfills and allows you, our valued tenant, to donate items you no longer want or need to those in our community who need them most. Our donation program starts August 15th and runs until August 27th. Please take this opportunity to donate items you no longer need or want. We will accept gently used items and donate them to local charities.
